New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers limped off the field with a left ankle injury toward the end of practice on Sunday morning.

Multiple media outlets reported that the injury is believed to be a mild ankle sprain for Nabers, the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Per the New York Daily News, Nabers was “reaching down and touching the top outside of his left foot” after competing in a team drill. He limped to the sideline and removed his cleat before being examined by trainers.

Nabers has been making his presence felt both with his play in joint practices with Detroit last week as well as with an altercation with Lions safety Kerby Joseph.

Nabers caught nearly everything in sight against the cornerbacks and safeties Detroit put in front of him on the first two days of practice, but he was ushered to the side by coach Brian Daboll after the Tuesday fight.

Nabers had two touchdowns in team work and was the one player neither defense could contain in both practices.

Nabers had 89 catches for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games last season at LSU while playing with Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Nabers, 21, was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which honors the nation’s best receiver. That award ultimately went to Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State.
