Hips don’t lie, but Gerard Piqué is hinting that there may be more to the story behind his breakup with Shakira.
The FC Barcelona soccer player reflected on the public fallout surrounding the couple’s high-profile split two years later. Though his ex—with whom he shares sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9—has been open about her heartbreak, Gerard implied that the public has yet to know “the truth” of why they ended their 11-year relationship
“In the end, the truth or what happens or occurs is not told in the way it was,” Gerard told CNN en Español in an Oct. 18 interview translated from Spanish. “I cannot control this.”
He continued, “The best thing is that in the end I am surrounded by my loved ones, my family, my friends, the people who really know you. They know what you are like and what you do, and that gives me a lot of peace of mind.”
