Another former Disney Channel child star has had a run-in with the law.

ET has confirmed that Skai Jackson was arrested last week for misdemeanor domestic battery following a public altercation with her boyfriend.

The 22-year-old actress was released just a few hours later and has denied any physical incident, instead allegedly insisting she and her boyfriend are happily engaged and expecting a baby, according to TMZ, which first broke the news. But deputies reviewed video footage from Universal Studios Hollywood’s CityWalk after security spotted Jackson and her boyfriend fighting and they saw she pushed him more than once, according to the outlet.

In a statement to E! News, the Los Angeles’ Sheriff’s Office said that, based on the initial investigation, it was determined that Jackson was the “primary aggressor,” and she “was arrested for misdemeanor spousal battery.” The police noted to the outlet that the investigation is still ongoing.

ET has reached out to Jackson’s representatives and the LASD for comment.

Jackson has not commented on the incident publicly. She remains active on social media but has limited comments on Instagram.

Jackson is best known for her role as Zuri Ross on the Disney show Jessie and its spin-off Bunk’d alongside Peyton List, Karan Brar and the late Cameron Boyce. Jessie aired from 2011 to 2015. Bunk’d began in 2015 and is still going, but Jackson left the show in 2018. In November 2020, she would place fifth on season 29 of Dancing With the Stars.

In the past, Jackson has been vocal about her advocacy against bullying and has even exposed bullies and racists online

“I would always just get DMs from my fans, because people know I’m an advocate for anti-bullying,” Jackson told ET in June 2020. “So I would always just look at my messages and see a bunch of my fans saying, ‘Look at what this person said to me, I don’t know how to deal with this.'”

She continued, “The more I saw it, it became 20 in a day, I was like, you know what? No! I’m gonna speak out about it, ’cause I think it’s really important. People go through these struggles every day in life, and for me, it’s kinda like my duty with the big platform that I have, to use it for good.”
