Dan Levy and Eugene Levy are finally setting some records straight.
The father son duo took on hosting duties at the 2024 Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Sept. 15, and while welcoming guests to television’s biggest night—which Dan joked is “also known as broadcast tv’s biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services”—the Schitt’s Creek alums took a moment to chat about their last name.
Noting that they were very excited to be hosting for the evening, Eugene, 77, was quick to remind the crowd that he and his son are not stand up comedians, with Dan, 41, chiming in to tell the crowd that they’re more like “actors acting like hosts.”
“Which is a huge gamble for us,” he continued, “but if it goes well tonight, my name is pronounced lev-ee not lee-vee.”
To which father Eugene jokingly added, “And if things go south, my name is pronounced Martin Short.”
