The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Dominic Leone on the 60-day injured list on Friday because of a right UCL sprain, ending his injury-marred season.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox activated right-hander Matt Foster from the 60-day injured list. Foster, 29, missed the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery on April 19 of last year.

Leone, 32, was injured in the seventh inning of a 10-2 loss to the visiting New York Yankees on Wednesday. He faced five batters and allowed a sacrifice fly, a walk, a double, a single and another walk, plus a wild pitch, before being replaced.

He took the loss and fell to 0-2 with a 6.63 ERA, 14 walks and 17 strikeouts in 23 relief appearances. Leone has spent most of the season on the injured list, missing time with lower back tightness in May and right elbow inflammation for two-plus months.

Leone is 22-25 for his career with eight saves and a 3.94 ERA in 427 games (four starts) for nine different teams since his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2014.

Foster is 9-4 with two saves, a 4.39 ERA, 39 walks and 113 strikeouts in 112 2/3 innings over 108 games (two starts) in parts of three seasons (2020-22) with the White Sox.
