Two games await Monday night as Week 4 comes to a close, and none of us can be certain which teams are true contenders outside of the two-time Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Miami still hasn’t led a second of regulation. At 1-2, the Dolphins sole win was a walk-off field goal over the Jaguars. They’re averaging 11 points per game and have been outscored by 39 points this season.

Now the Dolphins roll into a home game in primetime against the winless Titans with a starting quarterback who joined the roster two weeks ago, Tyler Huntley.

Tennessee is touching a potential QB crisis of its own. Will Levis has five interceptions and countless brain cramps, costing the Titans are sure win at Chicago in Week 1 and another chance in a seven-point loss Week 2 to the Jets.

In a nightcap that should feel more like the big leagues, the Seattle Seahawks put their perfect record on the line against the Lions in Detroit. Seattle’s defense under head coach and mastermind Mike McDonald has had quarterbacks baffled. Will Jared Goff rise to the occasion, or can Geno Smith get the job done against Detroit’s stingy run defense?

Miami’s issue running the ball is tied to the quarterbacks to some degree. Without Tua Tagovailoa, there is little threat of the deep ball, and Tyreek Hill’s speed isn’t a fear factor the Titans have to compute unless Huntley can count on play-action.

But the root of the concern is actually Miami’s offensive line. There are modest run lanes, and the outside alleys that helped create cutback lanes consistently in 2023 for Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane are no longer there. Mostert had six carries for nine yards in Week 1. Achane is averaging 3.5 yards per carry.

The Dolphins are likely to follow the lead of the Packers, who caught the Titans off-guard by allowing backup QB Malik Willis to throw the ball in Week 3. With Achane as a receiver (10.3 yards per carry), he’ll have an easy outlet to the flat and two speedsters on the outside in Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Both are over 13.5 yards per catch this season.

Dolphins PK Jason Sanders over 6.5 points; Titans PK Nick Folk over 5.5 points (-105 DraftKings)

If ever there was a field goal game on paper, it’s the early game Monday. Miami hasn’t scored a touchdown in a span of seven quarters as of kickoff, and Sanders is responsible for 15 of the team’s 33 total points. The Titans are 32nd in the NFL in total offense at 781 total yards and Levis has fallen in love with the splash play, which Miami has been successful taking away.

The Dolphins have been in the red zone eight times with three touchdowns; Tennessee has four touchdowns in eight red-zone trips.

Lions RB Jahymr Gibbs over 51.5 rushing yards (-110 DraftKings)

Two major injuries on the defensive line will challenge Macdonald’s creativity. Defensive end Leonard Williams and rookie Byron Murphy II are out, which mutes the potential advantage Seattle would have had while C Frank Ragnow sits for Detroit.

The Lions are capable of getting creative with the run game and use Gibbs as an all-purpose runner and receiver. Two of Seattle’s three opponents averaged better than 4.0 yards per carry, and there’s nothing coach Dan Campbell likes more than flexing dominance in the running game in spotlight matchups.

The Lions rushed for 187 yards at Arizona last week for a season-high, but also had 139 against the Buccaneers and 163 in the opener against the Rams while averaging more than 34 rushing attempts per game. Gibbs has 207 rushing yards in three games.
